Black Deer to kick off the UK festival season

It’s been a grim old 12 months, hasn’t it? Around the world, we’ve all been locked down for various periods of time. In the UK, things have been as tough as anywhere, with the winter lockdown seemingly interminable and the nights cold and dark, with nothing to do but sit on the sofa and dream of one day going to gigs again.

However, with the arrival of Spring has come renewed optimism. The days are getting longer, the evenings lighter, and the vaccine is steadily being administered to long-suffering British residents. All of which means that, joy of joys, it looks like the UK will actually have a festival season this year. Live music! At last! All Points East, Reading/Leeds, Carfest and the like are all set to go ahead and, to kick things off, Black Deer Festival in Kent will be the first major festival to restart the live music calendar in June. HOORAY!

Some of the biggest names in live music are confirmed, including legendary Belfast Cowboy Van Morrison, Robert Plant’s latest collaboration Saving Grace with Suzi Dian, and Irish roots superstar singer and songwriter Imelda May. Elsewhere on the bill you’ll find Something You Said favourites, Steve Smyth and Jade Bird, amongst a stellar line-up.

Frank Turner is playing too, and he explained: “I am excited beyond words to be getting back into the live saddle again, playing with my band to a real audience – after the year we’ve had, it’s an incredible feeling. It feels good to kick off with an independent festival as well. I can’t wait!”

Black Deer Festival, the ‘UK’s Best New Festival’ (Independent Festival Awards 2018) has moved 2021’s original date just a week later than scheduled to 25th – 27th June 2021. The small but dedicated independent artisans behind the much-loved and respected festival have been working hard to reconfirm artists, suppliers and vendors and move forward and plan a full and successful festival this summer compliant with latest UK Government guidelines.

See you there. We literally cannot wait!
