Between the Bridges brings the vibes back to London

It’s been a miserable past year or so in England, hasn’t it? Locked down through an interminable winter, we’ve longed for a time when we can meet up with our friends and loved ones again. Now, with lockdown finally easing, we’ve started to be able to get back to some sense of normality and… you know… actually start enjoying ourselves once more. So the opening of a brand new London venue is perfectly timed, as it allows us to enjoy an ace night out, in the fresh-air, on the banks of the Thames.

Between The Bridges offers a unique programme of eclectic non-stop entertainment, top-tier street food and  London’s largest outdoor drinking area for the summer – over 4000 sq ft! We went along to the opening night yesterday, sat in the sun with a few beers, ate some delicious food, listened to some good tunes, and had a game of crazy golf. We can heartily recommend the good vibes that Between The Bridges brings.

There’s loads more to come from the new outdoor venue, which sits next to the London Eye. Gilles Peterson will shake the South Bank on June 5th with an eclectic mix of all genres to get revellers on their feet, whilst our mate Jay Carder and Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard will bring the electronica to the riverside for a very special show.

Also joining the line-up, Madness legends Suggs and Raf Rundell from The 2 Bears will host a DJ sets, whilst Glastonbury and Marrakech favourite, The Beat Hotel, will join forces with vinyl oracle Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy and Nabihah Iqbal for the late-June slot when Glasto would have taken place. Festival staple Norman Jay MBE will join the billing in July, sharing the month of music with genre-bender Luke Una, Run-Dem founder Charlie Dark and an incredible set from east London’s favourite, Savage Disco.Other acts joining the programme include Afternoon DelightGuilty PleasuresNoble & HeathOld Dirty BrasstardsWe Are The Sunset and many more – Summer 2021 by London’s riverside is destined for good times.

Lining the magical riverside location, food stalls will include festival favourites, Club Mexicana,  the Latin-inspired El Pollote, prime-cut specialists Burger and Beyond, Instagram-ready The Cheese Wheel, barbecued jackfruit from Club Mexicana and many more exciting options across the entire duration.

Weekly themed craft markets will include upcycled, retro and vintage finds, jewellery and fashion stalls, wellness and mindfulness, plant markets and LGBTQ+ Pride market and sustainable finds.

Between The Bridges will become the location for activities this summer with date-perfect mini golf, weekly themed markets, all sashaying Drag Brunches with Ru Paul’s Drag Race winner Lawrence Chaney and fan favourites including Baga ChipzTayce and Ginny Lemon. Racers can expect games, lip sync battles, live performances, death drops and much more.

Exclusively taking place aside the Thames, famous Colombian game, Tejo, will head to the UK for the first time ever! What is Tejo you ask? Second only to soccer in its home country as far as games go – Tejo is a big game with a small bang, participants can expect chills, thrills, and gunpowder skills!

Entry into Between The Bridges is free apart from on Friday and Saturday evenings from 5pm when entry is £5. Advance table booking is recommended and this can be booked along with the activities at www.betweenthebridges.co.uk.
