Primal Scream plan Screamadelica live shows
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of their celebrated 1991 album, Screamadelica, Primal Scream are taking the record on tour, playing it from front to back in full.
The seminal album was released on September 23rd, 1991 and was both critically-acclaimed and a commercial success, reaching number eight on the UK Albums Chart. It was album of the year for both Melody Maker and Select magazine, and it won the inaugural Mercury Music Prize the following year. The LP featured classic tracks Movin’ On Up, Loaded and Come Together.
Over three decades after it was unleashed into the world, ‘Screamadelica Live’ will see the Scottish band play three special shows next July. The gigs will start in Glasgow, before heading to Manchester, and ending in London. Tickets will be on sale this Friday at 9am from here.
Also available this Friday is a box set of 12” singles from around the time of Screamadelica. The box set will include an as-yet unreleased mix of Shine Like Stars, from the late Andrew Weatherall.
Out the same day is a double picture disc edition of Screamadelica. And if that didn’t already make Friday a big day for Primal Scream, then the band will headline the Big Top stage at this year’s Isle of Wight Festival on that day.
But hold on, there is even more Primal Scream news. In mid-October, there will be yet another album landing. Entitled Demodelica, it is an album of demos and other unreleased material.
The releases can all be pre-ordered here.
Screamadelica live will take place on the following dates:
Friday 1 – Glasgow, Queen’s Park
Saturday 9 – Manchester, Castlefield Bowl
Saturday 16 – London, Alexandra Palace Park
