Photos: Ben Howard at Eden Project

With live gigs well and truly back in the UK, singer-songwriter Ben Howard was the first act confirmed for the Eden Project’s new batch of sessions. The gig was Ben’s fourth appearance there, and followed the recent release of his fourth studio album, the best-selling Collections From The Whiteout.

There was one big difference, though, between Ben’s other appearances at Eden Project and this most recent turn, in that he arrived onstage on crutches, due to a snapped Achilles’ tendon. Ouch!

Playing the whole show in a chair (a very nice chair at that) did nothing to temper the awesomeness of the gig though, as the musician played a set which was made up of tunes from his new record, along with some oldies from his previous three LPs.

Support came from Femmes de la Mer, an awesome all-Cornish female sea shanty band, who played to an already near-full venue, and who are supporting Ben across his tour.

The audience were entirely receptive throughout the night, clearly delighted to be back experiencing live music following a bleak year-and-a-half, and enraptured by an evening of magnificent music.

We sent photographer Adam Davis-Powell along to check out the awesomeness. Check out his photos. Click to enlarge.
