Getting to know Loose Bricks

Yuranga/Mildura-formed, Naarm/Melbourne-based indie-rock band Loose Bricks have just revealed their new single. We asked them to tell us about themselves:

We are… Loose Bricks, made up of four best mates from country Victoria. We grew up in the same schools, friendship groups and sporting leagues, and have spent countless days together hanging out and making memories. We started the band in high school and were later joined by Aaron, who is also a childhood mate of ours.

‘Right Now’ is… a fun party song that focuses on the importance of living in the moment, making memories and enjoying your youth. It’s a bit of a classic LB song with catchy guitar, a big sing along chorus and a lot of energy. We wrote it during one of our Melbourne lockdowns which lead us to reflect on the great times we have had and the people we have shared them with, hoping that there would be great times with friends and family in the not-too-distant future. We hope this song can remind you to be present in what you do and to cherish the good times, hopefully while listening to Right Now.

Home is… for all of us, Mildura. We all grew up there and our families all still live there. We’ve been in Melbourne for a bit over a year now and we’ve definitely settled in here and made some great friends, which is amazing. But there is nothing quite like visiting our families and being in our hometown enjoying the place that has contributed so much to who we are today.

We spend too much time… Levi definitely spends too much time playing candy crush. He always seems to be on it aha. Korbin spends too much time working coz he’s always late to the group chat and has 100 messages to catch up on. Aaron spends his time finding creative ways to not do uni. Toddy, well, Todd doesn’t spend too much time doing anything. He’s the real grown up of the group.

We’ve never… Played a show outside of Australia. This is something that we are eager to do in the near future though. Levi spent some of his childhood in New Zealand with his mum’s side of the family and, being from the Taranaki region, it’s an exciting thought that New Zealand could be not too far off.

It might surprise people to learn that… Levi Todd, and Korbin went to Kinder together. Korbin and Todd played a lot of Singstar together when they met.
