Aleesha Dibbs shares new single ahead of debut album

One of Something You Said’s all-time faves, Aleesha Dibbs, has a new single out, ahead of the release of her debut solo album.

New track, Waiting Game, is the first look at upcoming album, Big Mood. According to the Australian artist, the latter will be “a raw, emotionally driven body of work that leans into instinct, intensity and honesty, pushing back against emotional suppression in an age of constant digital overwhelm.”

The new single is a nod to existentialism, life as a waiting game. It explores what it means to wait, to delay consequences (good or bad), and the quiet weight of sliding-door moments.

Looking ahead to the release of her album, Dibbs says: “For the most part, Big Mood is about fighting back. It’s about saying, unapologetically, yes to big feelings. It’s about uncovering and embracing self-agency, taking up as much or as little space as you need. And ultimately, it’s about remembering we’re human, submitting to whatever needs to pass through, without guilt and without apology.”

The record was produced, engineered and mixed over three years by long-time collaborator Tom Crandles (Au.Ra, Prudence, DMA’s) across multiple studio setups, and mastered at Black Knoll Studios in New York City.

In case you are not aware of the excellent Dibbs, she has previously performed nationally and internationally with the likes of Karen O, Angus & Julia Stone, Lisa Mitchell and MT Warning. She has also contributed vocals to instrumental band, All Sparks Burn Out and played keys for Prudence and Lorelei, alongside fronting her own previous projects Dive Bell and Double Vision.
