Jimmy Eat World bring Bleed American home for 25th birthday

Twenty-five years since Bleed American dropped, and Jimmy Eat World are finally giving the record the victory lap it deserves and luckily for us, Australia has been included. The Arizona quartet touch down in December for four shows, playing the album start to finish, the record that turned “The Middle” into a song every emo kid over 30 can still sing word-for-word without trying.
This tour kicked off at Red Rocks back in June this year, brought the group back to Vans Warped Tour for the first time in a quarter century, and saw them support My Chemical Romance in front of a home Phoenix crowd. “The Middle” quietly crossed a billion streams on Spotify last year too. Proof the song never actually left rotation, it’s just kept finding new ears for two and a half decades.
Jim Adkins has been talking about this run differently to past tours with it being less of a nostalgia lap and more a chance to actually sit with the songs instead of blur through them like they did in their 20s. Bleed American was written by four guys who had no idea their music would end up soundtracking half a generation’s high school years.
For anyone who bought this record on release, taped the video clips off Rage, or lost their voice at a Big Day Out side stage in 2002, this is your moment. Don’t sleep on this; get your ticket ASAP.
