Converge and Oathbreaker to headline inaugural Lucidity Festival in Melbourne

Melbourne’s heavy music calendar is getting a serious shake-up, with Converge, Oathbreaker, Extortion and Portrayal of Guilt leading the lineup for the inaugural Lucidity Festival in March 2027.
Presented by Destroy All Lines, the brand new one-day festival will take over Melbourne Pavilion on Saturday 13 March, bringing together some of the biggest names in hardcore, metal and underground heavy music. With a strictly limited capacity of just 2,000, this one’s shaping up to be something special.
Leading the charge are Massachusetts legends Converge, returning to Australia for the first time since 2019 to celebrate 25 years of their landmark album Jane Doe. The band will perform the record in its entirety in an exclusive festival appearance, something they’ve only done twice before.
Joining them are Belgian heavyweights Oathbreaker, making their long-awaited Australian debut with a festival-exclusive performance celebrating ten years of their critically acclaimed album Rheia. Having returned from hiatus in 2026, their blend of black metal, hardcore and haunting atmospherics promises to be one of the day’s highlights.
And the lineup doesn’t let up there.
Australian powerviolence favourites Extortion are on board, alongside Texas outfit Portrayal of Guilt, who will make their first trip down under armed with material from their 2026 release …Beginning of The End.
Melbourne’s own The Broderick will also reunite for an exclusive performance celebrating 15 years of Free To Rot, Free of Sin, while Belgian black metal trio Wiegedood return to Australia for the first time since 2018. Ends In Tragedy, Blind Girls, Isua and Melting round out the bill.
Beyond the music, Lucidity will feature an exclusive Homewrecker Records pop-up installation designed by visual artist Callum Preston, live artist Q&A sessions hosted by the Oblivious Maximus podcast, market stalls and food trucks.
Rather than going down the sprawling outdoor festival route, Lucidity is keeping things intimate, with a carefully curated lineup and several performances you won’t catch anywhere else.
With Converge performing Jane Doe in full, Oathbreaker celebrating Rheia and The Broderick making their return, there’s plenty here for heavy music fans to get excited about.
