Our top ten tunes of the week – August 7

Here are the songs that have been floating our boat over the last few days:

1. Kira Puru – Molotov

Molotov is an anthem for misfits and party animals,” Kira explains. “The clip is a celebration of things I love; bad dancing, collage, photo booth, general absurdity, champagne… I also wanted to give people a little look in to how unhinged the live shows can be, because I have a whole bunch coming up!”

2. Last Dinosaurs – Eleven

Shot and edited by Last Dino’s bassist, Michael Sloane, along with some assistance from his bandmates, brothers Sean and Lachlan Caskey, the clip is emblematic of the hands-on approach Last Dinosaurs are endeavouring to have on every element of the release of their third studio album, Yumeno Garden.

3. Manic Street Preachers – People Give In

Manic Street Preachers round off the summer and one of their busiest years to date with a new single.

4. Peter Bibby – Work for Arseholes

Work for Arseholes is a song about bad habits, self-reflection and pride, for better or worse. “I wrote it to make myself feel better about being a thirsty, unemployed insomniac whilst sitting in my bedroom in Northcote, Victoria. It didn’t make me feel that much better, however I have, for the most part, avoided working for arseholes ever since and I see that as a great success,” says Bibby of the track.

5. Morcheeba – It’s Summertime

Following on from the release of their positivity-packed ninth studio album, Blaze Away, the British trip-hop pioneers have dropped their next single.

6. Dustin Tebbutt – All Your Love

Dustin Tebbutt’s latest release is a solo, stripped back version of the song originally released as a dance track with Flight Facilities.

7. Loser – Loser

Melbourne’s Loser are excited to officially release their debut single of the same name.

8. Ainslie Wills – Society

The acclaimed singer-songwriter returns with a new single, taken from her highly-anticipated second LP, All You Have is All You Need, due early 2019.

9. Darkwing  - Ignorant Ghost

Brooklyn-based rockers Darkwing have signed to Good Eye Records and unveiled a new single.

10. Sultan + Shepard – Louder

“Louder” is the prelude to their debut album, which is slated for release in January 2019.
