The Pleasure Garden is back!

A Boutique Wonderland Coming To Melbourne This Summer

With this year’s slew of summer festival announcements, it’s clear that the rise of the boutique festival is stronger than ever. In its 3rd year running, The Pleasure Garden at St Kilda’s Catani Gardens is no exception. TPG is a one-day event celebrating Music, Art and Dress Up in arguably one of Melbourne’s most eclectic neighbourhoods south of the river. This year’s theme is ‘Wonderland’, and not just the Alice kind; you can dress up to express whatever Wonderland means to you. With the chance to win ‘best dressed’ that will earn you a lifelong ticket, what’s not to love?

But lets get down to brass tacks here, it’s not just the community party vibes and local art stalls that are creating a buzz. The lineup is peppered with both favourite homegrown acts and international musicians to boot. On the list to have you mad with nostalgia are The Temper Trap, best known for their 2009 hit ‘Sweet Disposition’. Alongside them is Xavier Rudd, who’s multi-instrumental folk jams has seen him enjoy a successful career of delighting festivalgoers around the country for decades. One in particular I’m excited about is Sampa the Great, the Zambian poet and songstress whose recent mix tape release ‘Birds and the Bee9’ has received critical acclaim around Australia.

Also included on the bill is Confidence Man. Being hailed as one of the most exciting live acts to see around the country at the minute, Confidence Man will grace the Gardens with their dance-pop hits like “Bubblegum” and ‘Better Sit-Down Boy’ in an array of coordinated moves and costume changes. In keeping with the pop-dance vibes are Haiku Hands, whose catchy new release ‘Not about you’ is sure to add to the energy and visual delight of the festival. If that’s not enough to get you excited, there’s plenty more acts on the bill including a Secret International Act that has made us all curious and curiouser!

TPG are also bringing in some of the best delicacies from around the greater area in a Gastronomical food truck bonanza. There will be tastings for Carnivores, Vegans and Vegetarians alike as well as stands purveying boutique cocktails and beers. Rather than waiting around the brunch table in the morning for things to kick off, the first 50 dressed up people through the gates win a free cocktail! So what are you waiting for? Get in quick to secure your ticket because this one is sure to be a sell out before the spring is over.
