Interview: Getting to know Smalls

Sydney-based alternative-pop artist, Smalls, has just revealed his debut single. We asked him to tell us about himself:

I am… SMALLS. Just a young bloke doing his best to create vibey songs you can get down to. 

‘Tail Lights’ is… a window into the struggles that can arise in a relationship when one (or both of you) struggle with your mental health. Sounds heavy, but I promise it’s at least bittersweet. I hope you like it!

Home is… wherever there is a stage that I can make a fool of myself on. Right now that stage is my bedroom here in Newtown. 

I spend too much time… watching f*cking Tik Toks!

I’ve never… written a song in a day, or a week or a month. I’m a slow burner and I’ve only just come to terms with that being ok! 

It might surprise people to learn that… I wasn’t always a city slicker. I grew up on a farm in rural NSW and traded in the Akubra when I relocated to Sydney a few years ago.
