Our top ten tunes of the week – September 23

These are the songs that have been getting us going over the past week or so:

1. Courtney Barnett Before You Gotta Go

Courtney’s new single is taken from the much anticipated forthcoming album Things Take Time, Take Time – out November 1st.

2. Banoffee – Never Get To Fuck Any1

“I wanted the record to track a couple of different emotions,” Banoffee says. “It goes from like, ‘You don’t love me enough’ to like, ‘Shit, I’m never gonna have sex like this again’, which is really materialistic and quite funny.” 

3. Austen – The Fire

4. Joey Vriend – Smile

Of the single, Joey says, “The song is about showing feelings, the smile can ease a lot of pain and provide support, especially in troubled time like these.

5. Dope Lemon – Stingray Pete

6. There’s A Tuesday – Bus Stop

The up-and-coming indie-pop band from New Zealand are signed to Benee’s label, Olive Records. Here’s their excellent new single.

Following the release of her long-awaited debut LP, Wrestling, the Los Angeles-based, Perth-raised electronic pop artist has shared her PJ Harvey cover.

8. Greatest Hits – Spicy

9. Lime Cordiale and Idris Elba – Apple Crumble

The actor has joined forces with the Australian chart-topping duo for a new single, which will will feature on their forthcoming mini album, Cordi Elba.

10. Flaskas – Paradise

The band recently released their EP called Free The Mind. Fuelled by the global pandemic, the EP is a collection of songs that focuses on mental health.
