Getting To Know Johnny Hunter

Having recently released their new single, Life, the Sydney band is currently amping up for the release of their debut album in 2022. We asked them to tell us about themselves:

We are… Johnny Hunter, a group of untrained musicians stuck in a romance with post punk music. Hiding behind faces of make up and raucous stage cabaret to make the people stop, look and listen.

Our debut album will be… 10 songs, each reflecting different experiences that have defined our character over the years. Humble victories and gracious defeats  A true audible learning curve that leads us to certain realisations. The result: spearheaded promises of affirmation to be the best you can be in the eyes of turmoil. To be all that you Want.

Home is… with one another hunkered down in an airbnb or a humble service apartment on the side of a highway. With Sunken eyes and hoarse throats scrambling to get to the airport. Hell on earth at the time but in hindsight a loving home.

We spend too much time… abusing our bassist Nick Cerone for the decisions he makes regarding our itinerary even though if he didn’t take the time then no one would. It’s out of love, it’s also out of spite because the rest of us have so many downfalls.. it truly is the only thing we can nail the perfect bastard for.

We’ve never… travelled overseas together. Hopefully that will all become ancient history soon!

The last 18 months have been… a rollercoaster. Getting signed to cooking vinyl, Playing shows and then being locked down, recording songs and then releasing through another lockdown. It’s been hard, it’s been tedious but we’ve managed to make something out of an impossible situation. We’re very proud of that.

Keep up to date with the band on Insta.
